Space Shuttle Enterprise ( Orbiter Vehicle Designation: OV-101) was the first orbiter of the Space Shuttle system. These were atmospheric only, non-spaceflight tests from a Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, both with the orbiter attached and for a series of drop-test flights. 1 It flew 135 missions and carried 355 astronauts from 16 countries, many on multiple trips.
